So the last couple of days we had some fantastic weather and the snow has started to settle. So this meant it was time for a hike. This was the first time I used my camera bag for hiking. I just switched to the ABS Vario System with a Evoc ZIP-ON ABS CP 26L, and this worked great. It will get heavy when bringing hiking gear, but it feels really good to have a camera bag with the Airbag system. Camera and lenses feels well protected so i'm able to ride quite hard and can get a lot of good snowboarding even if i'm carrying my camera gear. Adding the hiking gear turned it quite heavy and a bit painful to ride with. Mostly due to loss of balance, you just have to take more care getting down.
The bag itself has a lot of space for camera gear, skins, poles, crampons, water, clothes, shovel and probe. There is also a really handy quick opening at the side to get your camera out without opening the whole bag. The only real downside with it is that the construction of the Evoc ZIP-ON ABS CP 26L is very stiff so this makes it hard the mount and remove with the zipper on the ABS Vario System. It feels like you are forcing the zipper a bit too much getting the bag on and off the ABS Base. Nothing happened yet but it might be an issue in the future.
When I'm not bringing my camera I use my Evoc ZIP-ON ABS GUIDE 30L, this is also a great backpack but I'm not going to say more than that you will not be disappointed with this bag. It got all the features needed for a days hike.
